Student-Led Initiative Brings Sports Equipment to Communities

Student-Led Initiative Brings Sports Equipment to Communities

This school year, Foley Prize winner Eleanor Levy '26 has been educating the Derby community about the importance of all children having access to sports. Throughout the year she has hosted several used sports equipment drives and recently volunteered alongside Grade 8 classmates Abbott, Brynn, Charlotte, Julia, Kate, Madyson, Miles, and faculty members Mr. Daly, Mr. Travis, and Mr. Magoon at a local sports non-profit, Good Sports.

Through their volunteer effort the following impacts were made:

—400+ Adidas apparel items processed and available for request
—$12K+ in equipment value added to the communities they serve
—24 total working hours contributed to their warehouse team
—Items processed can now be sent to programs in need across all 50 states

Thank you to Eleanor for organizing these efforts and showing how service is a powerful example of character, leadership, compassion, and community spirit.
