Derby Students Attend Rising Leaders Model UN Conference

On Friday, May 2, 30 Derby students attended the Rising Leaders Model UN conference at Mass College of Art & Design/Northeastern University. Rookie delegates were paired with more experienced delegates to learn about the Model UN experience. Students then met in committees to "define and support climate refugees."

Congratulations to the following students who won awards!

Madyson, Reagan, & Sam (Russian Federation): Best Negotiators
Description: Russia was able to work well with other delegates to solve the issue at hand. They managed to acknowledge a very controversial issue in their nation while maintaining diplomatic relations with other delegations and specifically solving that issue.

Scarlett & Charlotte (Australia): Best Delegates
Description: Came out swinging with a strong speech, then became the leader of their block.

Kendall, Maggie & Madeleine (Nigeria): Best Public Speakers
Description: Nigeria was one of the most active speakers in the committee. They had their placard up every time and led the moderated discussions.
