Over the last few days, Derby Academy students have been virtually pairing up with their Pals to work together to create “thank-you” cards in honor of Veterans Day this November.
The event began with our older students meeting their younger Pals over Zoom to introduce themselves, say “hello,” and discuss creative ideas for sharing their gratitude during the card-making event.
While the cross-grade, peer mentorship program is a highlight of the year for our students, social distancing measures and additional health protocols meant the event would take place through a reimagined format.
The Primary and Lower School students kicked-off the card-making with creative drawings and brief messages of gratitude. The cards were then delivered to their Middle and Upper School Pals across campus, who finished the cards with additional messages of appreciation.
The cards will be collected and distributed to local veterans and active members of the armed forces for Veterans Day.
