Careers

Leading with Mind and Heart

We’re seeking faculty and staff who will support the mission of the School, both in the classroom and around campus. An ability to inspire a love of learning and encourage children to embrace academic challenge is essential. It is equally important that adults in the community create and maintain a nurturing environment in which children feel comfortable participating actively in their own learning. Candidates must be well versed in developmentally appropriate practices and have a desire to work collaboratively as a member of a teaching team.

A Welcoming Community

Lasting friendships, supportive colleagues, and dedicated professionals make Derby more than just a great place to work—trivia nights, an annual Faculty vs. Grade 8 soccer game, and “First Friday” social gatherings help build important connections outside the classroom.  As educators, our goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment where each person freely brings his or her whole self to school each day.

Rich Andriole

"Relationships I build with my students—with entire families and colleagues—are the backbone of the work I do here. "

Lauren Brooks

"One thing that makes Derby so special is that the people in the community became my family."

Derby is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, marital status, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, national origin, genetic information or physical or mental disabilities which do not prevent performance of essential job tasks.
