Programs

The range of opportunities our students experience makes Derby remarkable.

Our signature programs are unique to our community, motivating our students to learn new skills, discover their passions, and develop a broader understanding of their world.

Derby is a special place where we see our children excited to go to school and be part of a vibrant community where they may safely explore new ideas, develop meaningful friendships, and have a lot of fun.

Global Changemakers

We’re developing globally-minded learners. Our students are prepared to think critically, compassionately, and collaboratively about the world.

Public Speaking

We foster a love of writing, authorship, and reading in our Middle and Upper Schoolers, as well as coach them to become confident, articulate “orators for life” through our public speaking program.

STEM

We offer innovative curricular opportunities in STEM to promote hands-on learning and student interest and achievement in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Secondary School Placement

The transition to secondary school is a critical time and we take pride in preparing our students for the next steps in their academic career.

Winter Term

In December, students in Grades 6–8 meet with experts and creatively investigate, engage, and apply hands-on designs to resolve challenges on both a local and global level.

Outdoor Ed

As our students step out of the classroom and venture outdoors, they develop a passion for scientific field studies and a sense of stewardship for their environment.

After School Programs

Our After School Adventures program provides an opportunity for children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 to participate in a variety of activities in a creative and relaxed atmosphere.

Pals

The cross-grade, peer mentorship program lets our Middle and Upper School  students lead as role models, while inspired by the imagination and joy of our younger students.

Service

Our students learn from an early age what it means to be a part of a community—and that no matter how old you are, you are never too young to make a difference.
