This Privacy Policy provides information about our privacy practices when you use our Services, including our website (www.derbyacademy.org) and apps or other sites owned or controlled by us (myDerby, hosted by Veracross, Magnus Health, and our social media sites). References in this notice to “Personal Information” means information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person. As a school, we regularly collect personal data while conducting professional business, including through:

  • Interactions with our Sites, including our website (www.derbyacademy.org), our online services, and our social media accounts;

Children’s Privacy

Our Sites are not intended for use by children under the age of 13. In accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 ("COPPA"), we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 without the valid consent of a parent or guardian.

Cookies And Related Logging Technologies

Our website (www.derbyacademy.org) tracks limited information about page activity from visitors. We track non-personal information such as IP address, platform, browser type and version of the computer/device used, geographic location of visitors (country, city), and internet service provider (ISP). When using the search function, the history of pages accessed, time spent on pages, referring/exit pages, date/time stamp, and keywords used to find our site via search engines are tracked along with entries typed are collected for the purpose of providing website usage analytics to the site manager. Google Analytics tracking provides for advanced analysis. This information is anonymous and cannot be directly linked to individual users. We may use it to identify high-use or low-use areas of the site, pinpoint problem areas of the site, analyze broad demographic trends in our visitors, and make decisions about how to make it easier for people to find and navigate our website.

We take no responsibility for the information or accuracy contained on other websites. Information you submit to other sites will be governed by the other sites’ privacy policies and terms. Security

This website takes every precaution to protect our users' personal information. Whenever users submit personal information (such as contact info or credit card info) via online forms, registration, or online purchase, upon submission that information is encrypted via the highest level of SSL (Secured Sockets Layer) available. Servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment. Under no circumstances are credit card numbers permanently stored on our website servers.

Testimonials

Our client contracts include client permission to post testimonials, both written and video, on our website. Permission to display client reference information (name, school, phone number) is obtained from our clients prior to displaying them on our site. If you wish to update or delete your testimonial, you can contact us at communications@derbyacademy.org

Non-secured Communications

Posts to discussion forums, discussion boards, comments to blogs, and Alumni Class Notes are viewable by other users. When these areas are not in a password protected area, they may be viewable by the general public. Please be aware of this when posting personal information in these areas.

Social Media Sites

You may post information about yourself and/or your experiences with us through various social media websites (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Remember that any information you post will become publicly available, so please use discretion. We are not responsible for the collection, usage, and disclosure policies and practices (including data security) of these sites.

Managing Communication Preferences / Opt-out

Should you choose to do so, you may opt-out of receiving any communication from the School, including emails, by clicking “Unsubscribe” in any system communication. We strongly encourage community members to maintain their subscriptions to our email list to ensure they do not miss any important communications. In myDerby, a user may choose to adjust their communication and Directory Settings.

Retaining Your Personal Data

We will delete your personal data when it is no longer reasonably required for the Permitted Uses or you withdraw your consent (where applicable), provided that we are not legally required or otherwise permitted to continue to hold such data. We may retain your personal data for an additional period to the extent deletion would require us to overwrite our automated disaster recovery backup systems or to the extent we deem it necessary to assert or defend legal claims during any relevant retention period. This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time. Any such changes will be posted on this page.

Unless otherwise specified, Derby Academy websites are for your personal and non-commercial use. You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information or service obtained from Derby Academy websites. 

Derby Academy reserves the right, but is not obligated, to remove all spam, product or service promotions and solicitations, and posts and comments that are offensive, profane, graphic, obscene, racist, abusive, sexist, promote cyberbullying, or illegal activity or that threaten, slander, or provoke Derby Academy students, employees, or other individuals.
