Students Honor Local Veterans

Derby Academy students wrote ‘thank-you’ cards and personal messages of support during a Veterans Day card-making activity on Friday, November 2.
The event, led by the D Team, paired older students with younger students to write, decorate, and help understand the meaning behind the upcoming holiday. Students also read the children’s book “Courage” by Bernard Waber, which talks about the many forms of bravery that normal, ordinary people exhibit all the time.

Veteran faculty and staff visited classrooms in uniform to share their experiences during their time serving our country. The handmade 'thank you' cards and letters of support will be presented to local veterans prior to Veterans Day.
