Our Primary School classrooms are joyful places of exploration and discovery, where the foundation for future academic and social learning can be found and where strong, respectful relationships are at the heart of the school day.
We firmly believe that when a child feels safe, respected, supported, and well-known by the adults in the community, he or she will thrive. We believe social and emotional learning is vital to the academic success of every child.
Our unique Mind and Heart curriculum begins in the Primary School and continues through Grade 3, blending together the Responsive Classroom and Open Circle programs to guide our youngest students in their journey toward healthy social growth and peer relationships.
The Responsive Classroom focuses on ensuring our academic setting is developmentally appropriate, has a positive sense of community, and is effectively managed. This approach promotes an empathetic, caring community centered on the social and emotional growth of every child.
Students and teachers work together from the Open Circle curriculum, which develops children's skills for recognizing and managing emotions, developing empathy and positive relationships, and fostering problem-solving skills.
To see children bounding up the sidewalk, greeting their friends and teachers, ready to tackle another day of learning and growth, offers a daily reminder of how truly special this place is.

Play supports our curriculum with learning and fun, providing an opportunity for students to engage both their “minds and hearts.” Students enjoy physical education classes, going outside for recess on the playground, and exploring the classroom during choice time.
