Lower School | Gr. 1-3
In the Lower School, children are learning to be independent problem-solvers and
positive members of their school community.
An advanced academic program, motivated peer groups, and a supportive network of teachers inspire students to push their thinking and make deep connections across subject areas.
In the Lower School classrooms, children are learning to be allies to their peers, to think for themselves in ethical ways, and to be accountable for their words and actions. At each grade level, our literacy and math specialists are an integral part of the teaching team. Regular team meetings allow for important conversations about student work and cross-curricular planning, allowing for student learning to build upon a deeper understanding within a broader experience.
I love that every morning the students arrive with a big smile excited for the day, running up to me to give me a big hug and ask "Hola, ¿Cómo estás?" There is no better way to start the day.
Paz Mosqueira, Spanish Teacher
Our reading and math specialists work with students within the classroom, actively engaging a student’s curiosity in the subject. Students write and share stories using the Writer’s Workshop format as children are able to connect, access, and build upon their strengths independently.
