Dear Derby Parents, 

 

It’s hard to believe that we are entering the winter season at Derby Academy. This year has flown by and has been busy with parent volunteers putting their time and energy into so many important and worthy causes. I am continually amazed at how dedicated the parent body is at Derby, and how there is endless energy to complete projects and events, and coordinate efforts across campus.

 

The winter begins at Derby with our holiday concerts, the traditional Let There Be Light and Holiday Traditions performances, a Winter Plant Sale, a Parents Special Event evening and a Holiday Parents Association Meeting. In addition to all of that, there are the thoughts of gifts and cookies for faculty, staff, and friends and family. If you wish to give a gift to a faculty or staff member, we ask that you choose to give towards the Faculty Staff Appreciation Fund, rather than giving individual gifts to your children’s teachers. The Parents Association will celebrate our wonderful faculty and staff with gifts for all at the annual Appreciation Lunch in May. This will ensure that all of the people who interact with our children every day will be recognized and thanked. A card will be sent in your family’s name to the faculty or staff member you designate. You may make one donation and designate as many faculty or staff, as you want. Please send your donation to Kari O’Donnell, PA treasurer via the Main Office at Derby.

 

We are looking forward to a healthy and happy 2012 for all the families and friends here at Derby Academy. It has been a busy and productive fall, and I am grateful to you all for your time, patience, and friendships, and will look to 2012 as being equally rewarding. Wishing you a happy, healthy holiday season and a wonderful New Year.
